Baseline (Aiming for 4): Calculate the
gravitational potential energy store of an object from its weight and height. Further (Aiming for 6): Calculate gravitational potential energy from an object’s mass, the gravitational field strength and height. Challenge (Aiming for 8): Explain and account for all energy changes during falls or increases in height, including heating effects.

Work done = force x distance
Calculate the work done for these examples: A toy car is pushed 1m with a force of 5N A tug of war team pulls the opposing team 5m towards them with a force of 6000N The engine of a car can apply 8000N of driving force. The car drives 1200m Challenge: A bus drives 2.3km with an engine that can provide N of driving force. A freight train can apply 180kN of force and drives 32km

How high? A woman climbs the 8,848m to the top of Mount Everest. She has a weight of 680N. Calculate the work done in climbing the mountain Challenge: A jumbo jet of mass 400,000 kg cruises at an altitude of 10,700 m
