Yearbook Editor Works closely with teacher to do the following:
Is not assigned pages! Make a final decision on the theme Develop the ladder Create poster of ladder updated with permanent marker after pages are sent in. Make final decision on the cover Ensure we meet all yearbook deadlines. Works extra hours to fix or do any pages that were not completed by staff Assist students with questions in classroom Work with photo editor to assign staff to cover all events.

Assign yearbook pages to staff.
Assign staff page deadlines/mini deadlines. Follow up with staff to ensure individual deadlines are met. Develop individual deadline spreadsheet that is updated and visible by all staff. Supervise Staff Supervise Editors Maintain backup of all files. Check all pages to be submitted to plant for correct submission format. Ensures Yearbook area is organized. Train staff on creating layout.

Photography Editor Needs to be very organized, takes initiative, and interested in photography. Works closely with teacher and editor on the following: Assign staff to take pictures of each sport, club and event. Create a spreadsheet of this schedule that is visible to all staff. Update calendar of events – field trip, sport games, club meetings, club events, academic events, concerts, plays, days off, test days, etc. Listen to announcements for events to include in calendar.

Make sure each school event is covered.
Ensures pictures are being taken when scheduled, pictures are good for our yearbook, and pictures are saved and backed up appropriately. Ensures subjects and staff are notified when photos are scheduled.

Copy Editor This position will likely require the most out of class time due to deadlines. Works closely with teacher to do the following: Proofs all pages submitted for spelling and grammar. Checks spelling of every name on every page of the yearbook. Looks over all proofs when they return from Yearbook company. Trains staff on how to write captions. Trains staff to write factual, interesting copy and headlines.

Business Manager Work closely with teacher and editor on the following: Determine number of yearbooks to purchase. Maintains list of students that have purchased yearbook. Set up booth at lunch to sell yearbooks and check accuracy of yearbooks purchased list. Determine cost of senior and business ads. Determine cost of yearbook including higher cost for purchase after. Write letter to send out to businesses for advertisements. Follows up with past advertisers with a phone call if they don’t respond to letter.

Page Designers Create page layout using Yearbook Avenue software.
Use methods taught in class to create a cohesive layout. Have an eye for design and create appealing page layouts.

Project Manager (Page Filler)
Fill pages with pictures Identify and upload pictures to Yearbook Avenue Notify other positions on needs such as copy or photographers

Writers Write lead stories and captions
Competent in grammar and English conventions Skill for being concise and descriptive Creative writing skills to hook the reader
