February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836
It took place at a fort in San Antonio, Texas called the Alamo

General Santa Anna vs james bowie and William travis

Led an army of 1,800 troops to the Alamo
Many Texans disliked this new ruler

Both took part in defending the Alamo
Experienced war veterans
Only 200 troops to defend (Davey Crockett was one of them)

6. The Battle
General Santa Anna and his troops arrived on February 23,
They laid siege to the fort for 13 days.
On the morning of March 6, the Mexicans launched a major attack.
There were too many Mexican soldiers and they managed to scale the walls and get inside the fort.
Every Texan soldier in the fort was killed. Between Mexican soldiers killed.

7. The aftermath
Even though Texas lost, the Battle at the Alamo inspired the rest of the Texans who had claimed independence from Mexico on March 2nd (during the battle).
A few months later, Sam Houston led an attack and defeated Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto
