Ways to Measure Mass Units = grams Measure to the .01 place!
Electronic Balance ALWAYS: Use the SAME balance for the WHOLE experiment! “Tare” the balance before use! Rules: Do not press down on the balance Chemicals DO NOT go directly on the pan No hot objects on the pan of the balance Leave the balance on Do not use anything but your finger to push the buttons

Ways to Measure Mass Total Mass - Mass of Container = Mass of “Stuff”
Mass by Difference (example: salty beaker) Total Mass - Mass of Container = Mass of “Stuff”

Ways to Measure Volume Liquids Use graduated cylinder (units = mL)
Read BOTTOM of meniscus Measure to .01 place

Ways to Measure Volume KNOW: 1 mL = 1 cm3 Solids V = m/d
V Block = l*w*h Irregular Solids Volume by displacement Final volume - Starting volume = Volume of object KNOW: 1 mL = 1 cm3
