3
STOMATA exchange O2 and CO2 for photosynthesis
STOMATA exchange O2 and CO2 for photosynthesis. They’re REGULATED by GUARD CELLS that open and close the stomata.
4
DERMAL TISSUE OUTER layer Like skin Waxy coating on leaves and stems
5
GROUND TISSUE Makes up the INSIDES Supports the plant Stores glucose
Contains chloroplasts! Photosynthesis happens here
6
MERISTEMATIC TISSUE Located only at the root tips
Uses mitosis to extend the roots of the plant
7
VASCULAR TISSUE Like the veins + arteries
Transports water, sugar and nutrients 2 TYPES: XYLEM = moves WATER from roots leaves PHLOEM = moves SUGAR from leaves stems and roots
9
TRANSPIRATION = H20 vapor evaporates through the stomata via the XYLEM
TRANSPIRATION = H20 vapor evaporates through the stomata via the XYLEM. ROOTS STEM LEAVES REQUIRES THE USE OF: 1. ADHESION (water to water) 2. COHESION (water to the xylem) =CAPILLARY ACTION!
