4 Discover the Source of Your Plant’s Waste!

5 Let Us Review From the Doran Sales Bible: Verse 1: “If you do not measure a process, you cannot properly manage it.” Verse 2: “Likewise: If you do not manage a process, you cannot improve it.”

6 “The Pain and Hardship”

7 “The Pain and Hardship”
For food production, there is a need to keep track of waste to meet regulations/certification demands like SQF, BRC and HACCP. Employees are disposing waste at the dumpster without reporting who, what, where, when and why.

8 “The Pain and Hardship”
Who put the waste in the dumpster? There is no employee accountability. Management doesn’t know who dumped it. What product was wasted? Where did this happen? What production line? At the cookie cutter, dough extruder, the bottle filler? At wrap or final inspection?

9 “The Pain and Hardship”
When? - Date? Time? Shift? Why did this happen?

10 “The Pain and Hardship”
How do you know your company policies are being followed or not?

11 “The Pain and Hardship”
Is there a company policy for waste? Chances are, the waste was recorded by paper/pencil and handwritten records. Validity is questionable.

12 “The Pain and Hardship”
Maybe an employee put waste in the dumpster three hours ago and forgot to document? As a result you may have inaccurate weight values. They forgot to report an accurate tare weight of the cart. (Gross – Tare = Net)

13 “The Pain and Hardship”
How do you get weekly reports from handwritten logs? How much time is spent doing data entry, using a calculator or spreadsheet to creating reports with data that may not be accurate?

14 Remember: From the Doran Sales Bible: Verse 1: “If you do not measure a process, you cannot properly manage it.” Verse 2: “Likewise: If you do not manage a process, you cannot improve it.”

15 “The Pain and Hardship” Improper Tare/Cart Weights
Are your people writing/logging true “net weights” or are they reporting “gross weight” and including the weight of the waste cart? How do you know if they are or not?

16 “The Pain and Hardship” Improper Tare/Cart Weights
Even if you estimate the weight of the cart for tare weights, empty carts can change weight every day due to raw product being stuck in the cart. What if your employees don’t wash the carts?

17 “The Pain and Hardship” Improper Tare/Cart Weights
Different types of waste carts are often used throughout the plant. This means tare weights could differ between different cart manufacturers and models.

18 “The Pain and Hardship” Improper Tare/Cart Weights
The reporting of improper tare weights can skew your data by 10 to 15%. That’s huge!

19 “The Pain and Hardship”
How do you know what happened?

20 “The Pain and Hardship”
The Blame Game

21 “The Pain and Hardship”
How do you organize and manage handwritten reports without really knowing TRUE information: Who? What? Where? When? or How?

22 “The Pain and Hardship”
All he knows is that there were three batches of organic bran, gluten free muffins that were tossed into the dumpster. He didn’t find out until hours later while he was on his smoke break. He doesn’t know which production line it came from. He doesn’t know who to ask or who is responsible.

23 “The Pain and Hardship”
He estimated that he lost $4,500 in unsellable product, not including energy and paid overtime to remake the muffins. So he really doesn’t know. His plant’s rating goes down.

24 “The Pain and Hardship”
This can lead to frustration and unnecessary stress on a manager.

25 Waste Traxx Demo

26 “For Scale Salespeople”
Customers cannot think of life any better than it is. They are thinking: “We will never have true control over waste, it is business as usual.” Some probably wished they knew of a system like this. They are prime targets.

27 “For Scale Salespeople”
Customers are not going to call you for a solution for their waste. You will have to approach your customers with Doran Waste Traxx solution. They don’t know a solution like this even exists.

Client side PC is required.

37 FAQ Question: Can multiple 2200 Scales be used at one facility?
Answer: Yes. Each scale requires a PC on the network.

38 FAQ Question: Why did you design Waste Traxx with a PC at each scale?
Answer: Our market research showed that companies wanted something easy-to-use with menu choices on the floor. They also asked for the ability to type in user comments. Therefore a client side PC was necessary to accommodate them.

39 FAQ Question: Can the scale be wireless Ethernet?
Answer: Yes it can. The option is EXOPT102: $ list. Be sure your customer has a rock solid wireless network their facility that covers the area where the scale will be.
