expedition ~ a trip that explorers would take in order to explore a new land or find something new

obstacle ~ when something gets in your way when you are trying to achieve something; a hardship

route ~ a way to get from one place to another; there are land routes and water routes

sponsor ~ when a person or country pays for someone to do something

navigation ~ the act, or process of finding the way to get to a place when traveling in a ship, plane, etc.

benefactor ~ a person who gives money or other help to a person or cause
