Hydrogen Student Work
2
How is it produced? Chemically bound hydrogen is extracted from water, hydrocarbons, or natural gas. About half of the hydrogen energy used today is from natural gas. It is extracted through a steam reforming process in which the natural gas reacts with the steam in a catalytic converter and thus the hydrogen atoms are stripped away (leaving the byproduct of carbon dioxide).
3
Where is it Produced? China, Brazil, USA, Russia, and Canada
4
What are its uses? The manufacturing of gasoline, heating oil, and ammonia (which is used to make chemical products such as fertilizer). Also used in welding, and to hydrogenated vegetable oil and peanut butter. It is also part of the formula for rocket fuel in ongoing Space Shuttle missions. Also used to manufacture glass, industrial lubricants, semiconductor circuits, and a few cosmetic products.

Pros and Cons Pros Cons Clean burning Sustainable Very abundant
Producing hydrogen takes more energy then it makes It is very hard to store
