How will I face discouragement?
1. Isolate myself? Find faithful friends? Comfort others ? 2. Lose hope of progress? Keep perspective? Look to the joy ahead? 3. Comforted only if trial removed? Worship during trial? “Thy will be done” or “My will be done”? He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Heb. 13:5) So whether we are in “a valley” due to “standing alone” for truth, personal tragedy, or at the hands of the wicked, how will we handle discouraging circumstances? - Give up and isolate ourselves, put ourselves in the company of faithful brethren, comfort others. - Convince ourselves that “all is lost,” patiently “get perspective,” look to joy that is ahead if we are faithful. - Find comfort: only in being removed from the trial, worship God in the midst of the trial, in God's will being done whatever that means for our life. - Trust that God has not left, nor forsaken us (Heb. 13:5). Be aware of the help He offers in His word, His providence, and His people. The greatest depressant ought to be our sin (Isa. 59:1-2). We need to be ashamed like Adam/Eve, feel hopeless and lost when outside of Christ, find rest- comfort- and peace in Christ and among His people.
