LARP Phase II Secondary Rotatable Collimator
5 min. Status Report 1st March, 2010

Mounting first jaw (RC-0) on base plate
Fake, plastic jaw Real Jaw

CMM results First Jaw (RC-1) CMM survey show flatness to well within 25 microns for majority of jaw but edges look to flair up a little. Lots of data just obtained from CMM group and not processed by us yet. Results to be documented, summarized and presented later

Oliver Aberle Visit Many useful discussions on installing our collimator into SPS Discussed: Acceptance and Interface Documents Commissioning tests and documentation Torque tests Survey and alignment Cooling tube pressure tests, etc… Details of design What we provide, what CERN provide for SPS installation Interconnections, hardware, supports, survey equipment etc… Provided 3 copies of full plan drawings Discussed drive table at great length Installed better rails Calibration and setting of limits switches, hard stops, etc… We believe we have a good mutual understanding of what will happen over the next year
5
Trapped Modes Numerous discussions with CERN and SLAC people on trapped modes. Have developed methods to mitigate the larger R/Q of current design. Some are very simple and already integrated Waiting on R/Q and Q budgets from CERN. See Liling Xiao’s talk later this meeting…
