Destroys idols in Kaaba ( a temple believed to be built by Abraham and Ismael his son) rededicates temple to Allah. Becomes most holy place in Islam.

Quran- sacred text that includes ethical standards, honesty, generosity, and harsh penalties for crimes
Sharia- Islamic system of law based on Quran.
Islam religion and way of life, no separation of religion from criminal law.

5 pillars of Islam- Declaration of Faith, Daily Prayer, Alms for the poor, Fasting during Ramadan, and Hajj ( pilgrimage to Mecca).
Jihad- struggle in the way of God
Christians and Hebrews considered “people of the book”, early civilizations were tolerant.
