When annotating prose, it is important to note that you will be looking less for technique and more for content. 4 Questions 1. Who are the main characters in this story? Who is the protagonist? The antagonist? 2. What do we know about them? What is their relationship to each other? 3. How do they change from beginning to end? 4. What is function of the minor characters? 5. Do some characters see themselves differently from the way readers see them? If so, how?
