8 ASSESSMENT Courses at National 1 to National 4:
courses are made up of Units all units have assessments which must be passed to gain a pass for that Unit. courses are internally assessed with no final examination/external assessment (but assessments are externally verified) courses at National 4 Level include an Added Value Unit Courses at National 5 and above include an external assessment

17 THE OPTIONS FORM- Plans for S4
Columns 1 and 6 Everyone must study English (Column 1) and Mathematics (Column 6). These will already be indicated on the Option Form, but need the Level of Study (from the front page of the Option Form/Pupil Report) added and must be signed off by the class teachers. Columns 2, 3, 4 and 5 Choose one subject from each column List these in order of preference on the form Indicate the level recommended in your report and the column the course is in. Get each choice signed off by the appropriate teacher or Principal Teacher
