We have booked this tour through leading educational travel company, Key Stage History Tours . We’ll benefit from their knowledge and experience in arranging school tours, as well as the 24 hour assistance they offer should we need their support whilst we are away.

Safety Management System Key Stage History Tours has already assessed the safety features on parts of our tour including accommodation, transport, excursions and visits. This assessment process is independently verified annually for further peace of mind. In addition, specific risk assessments are carried out by me for every aspect of the trip – relative to our students

Association of British Travel Agents & Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing Key Stage /Studytrips are fully bonded through ABTA (for non-air travel) and ATOL (for air travel) which means we have complete financial protection in the case of any unforeseen circumstances preventing the trip going ahead.

What’s included in the price?
The tour cost includes: Return coach transfer between Gloucester and Bristol Airport Return transportation by air 3 nights’ accommodation in a 3* hotel with breakfast 3 cooked restaurant evening meals – 2 or 3 courses 3 days’ packed lunches provided by the hotel Visits and entrance fees Guided tours at all visits Coach hire in Krakow for trips whilst there Travel insurance for medical emergencies and personal belongings against theft

Tour objectives On our tour, students will:
Deepen their knowledge and understanding of history and culture Learn about one of the most significant political events and of 20th century European history Experience another European culture and language Engage with themes and concepts such as prejudice and tolerance, oppression and human rights, persecution and courage

Tour overview We will depart from Lidl car park, Eastern Avenue at 06:00 by coach on 24/10/2018 We will fly from Bristol Airport with Ryanair to Krakow Airport departing at 09:20 and arriving at 12:55 We will stay at the Batory Bis Hotel for 3 nights We will depart on 27/10/2018 from Katowice Airport with Wizz Air at 20:20 and arrive into Bristol Airport at 21:55 We will return by coach to Lidl car park, Eastern Avenue at approx. 23:30 Staff: Miss R. Coach departs at 06:00 for Bristol Airport Opportunity to eat and drink at the airport and on the flight Bring food and drinks, or money (Sterling), for the airport and flight Our evening meal is not until 8pm, so you will also need some snacks to keep you going! Flight arrives Krakow at 12:55 local time Coach transfer to hotel Check in and unpack

What to bring Pounds Sterling
Polish Zloty (current exchange rate : £1 = 4.88 PLN) Clothes – practical for being outdoors in Autumn (coat, jeans/trousers, jumpers, long-sleeved tops, trainers and/or comfortable boots). Layers are recommended. Umbrella and/or cagoule Small backpack or similar for day trips Toiletries and any necessary medicines Plug adapter for phone chargers, hairdryers, etc Follow airline guidance for luggage Can bring phone, I-pod, camera, etc – students are responsible for their own belongings Any necessary medication Food for the first day – breakfast, lunch and snacks

Luggage restrictions 1 small cabin bag – 35 x 20 x 20cm - everyone
If you have paid the extra £25 for hold luggage, you can bring a bag/suitcase up to 20kg – checked in (so can have liquids) If you have not paid the extra charge, you can only bring a hand luggage bag not exceeding 10kg and 55 x 40 x 20cm With Ryanair, (outward) your hand luggage bag will go through security so you cannot have liquids over 100ml with you It will be taken from you when we board the plane to go in the hold – you cannot take it on board With Wizz Air, you can check this bag in so it can have liquids in Failure to meet these restrictions will result in an extra charge of at least £55 payable by you!

Spending Money Needed for snacks and drinks during the journey and souvenirs – indicative amounts are £20-£30 sterling and around £80-£100 in Zloty Water will be provided with restaurant meals and with packed lunches, but you may wish to buy other soft drinks for yourself Can bring Debit cards but you will be charged for using them abroad Make sure you get Polish Zlotys not Euros! Make sure you get them in advance, in case they need to be ordered

Safety Students to be briefed on fire evacuation procedures, etc in the hotel Students will be instructed on safety before leaving the UK and reminded each day in Krakow Rules such as staying with the group during visits and minimum groups of 3 when shopping Students will have a card with the contact details of the hotel, staff mobile number and a few useful Polish phrases Common sense should be used, eg: purse, valuables, copies of your passport and EHIC to be kept securely on your person and out of reach of pickpockets

Behaviour expectations
Follow instructions from staff at all times Noise to be kept to a minimum in the hotel Behaviour to be polite, sensible and respectful when undertaking visits and guided tours Carry emergency card at all times No smoking, or drinking alcohol, in the hotel or on the visits Alcohol – not under 18 - but we’d rather you didn’t at all! We should all make an attempt to speak a few Polish phrases when possible!

Next Steps Ensure that the Medical information/consent, emergency contact and dietary form has been handed in and is up to date Passport and EHIC to be handed in to be kept in the school safe until departure Final instalment to be paid if not already done so – contact for payments is the Ribston Hall Finance Office Hoodies will be available to buy Students MUST ensure they attend all the remaining preparation meetings in school If medical or dietary information changes – notify Miss Rose in writing
