2 Part 1: Whats the environmental issue? For our topic we decided to educate people about actions they can take to lead a more green lifestyle. We felt that this information would benefit people not only within but beyond our community. We selected this topic because we felt that by educating people about a wide range of green options in their daily lives we would be able to affect more change as our audience would be able to select the topics most useful to them. We decided to address a variety of topics all relating to an eco-friendly home and how to live a green lifestyle. We focused our information campaign on the following five topics: 1.How to Compost 2.Water and Energy Conservation 3.Carpooling 4.Buy Fresh, Buy Local 5.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

8 Part 3: Implementing Ideas (contd) Eco Dudes worked hard to build partnerships beyond our school for this project. We contacted Fern Hollow Cabin to ask for the tips found under Expert Tips on our website. We also partnered with local businesses such as Pfizer Animal Health and the DNR to participate in their Earth Day activities. We were able to obtain some green cleaning products and light bulbs from local vendors. All the materials for the composter that was built for the Live Green Workshop were donated by Swartzrock Implement.

11 PART 4: Evaluate your plan. What are the results? We feel our plan was successful because we were able to have good attendance at our Live Green Workshop, we had a high number of hits on our website, and we received favorable feedback on our website comment page. All of these lead us to feel that our message was well received and understood. The challenges we faced were primarily the time constraints involved with five team members who are also involved in a wide variety of other extra-curricular activities. We raised awareness in our school and the greater community by providing information through a wide variety of sources. We utilized the local newspaper, radio station, state newspaper, our own website, and YouTube. We also hosted the Live Green Workshop and handed out informational brochures. From this experience we learned that with effort we truly can impact a large number of people and can reach them with our message of eco-friendly living. This has encouraged us to continue trying to reach people with our message even after the Final Challenge is over.

12 Part 4: Evaluate your plan. What are the results? Results of our outreach on YouTube, our website, and our workshop expressed in actual number Results of our outreach on YouTube, our website, and our workshop expressed in actual number

School: Our school has recently installed motion sensor lights in some hallways and we would like to see more green initiatives implemented. We would encourage the school to install more motion sensor lights, water saving urinals and sinks, or to start a garden with a compost area to be used to provide the Family and Consumer Science class with fresh food to cook with.
