2. PHILOSOPHY OF PAL
“ Our children should grow up to be confident persons, adept at working in teams and be able to communicate their thoughts and ideas effectively. They should be self-directed learners who view education as a life-long process. They should also be innovative and enterprising individuals, able to cope with ambiguity and adapt well to change. 3. WHAT IS PAL?
PAL consists of modules of activities in the two broad areas, Sports and Games and Outdoor Education, and Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama) and Visual Arts, which are carried out within curriculum time.

4. WHY IS THERE A NEED TO INTRODUCE PAL?
To ensure that our young are equipped not just with content knowledge, but also with the necessary skills and values to thrive in a fast changing and globalized future. To address the greater emphasis on non-academic programmes within the curriculum. The greater exposure to Sports and Outdoor Education, Performing and Visual Arts for all Primary 1 and 2 students will facilitate their well-rounded development and help in balancing knowledge with skills and values.

5. WHAT ARE PAL OBJECTIVES?
Provide broad exposure through fun and varied activities in Sports & Games and Outdoor Education, and Performing Arts and Visual Arts
Facilitate the well-rounded development of students in the five learning domains (cognitive, moral, social, aesthetics, physical)
Provide varied avenues for students to develop social- emotional competencies

6. WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PAL?
Experiential in nature
Encompasses learning in a creative way
Provides opportunities for children to create
Incorporates values education and social emotional learning
Fun and enjoyable

7. WHAT ARE STUDENTS EXPECTED TO LEARN THROUGH PAL?
Children will exhibit confidence and enjoy individual and group experiences
Children will connect ideas and express themselves creatively in various PAL domains
Children will explore and extend knowledge and skills to their daily lives

8. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAL AND ART, MUSIC AND PE LESSONS IN THE CURRICULUM?
PAL compliments Art, Music and PE, and it provides the platform for students to extend, reinforce and apply their learning through a wide range of activities in Sports and Games and Outdoor Education, Performing and Visual Arts.
