Head Nucleus (Haploid) Acrosome (contains enzymes that help sperm penetrate the egg Mid-piece mitochondria (for energy) Tail for movement

Scrotum – pouch that contains testes Testes – produce sperm inside of seminiferous tubules. They also produce testosterone which is necessary for sperm production. Epididymis – where sperm matures

Vas deferens – tube that carries sperm away from testes Seminal vesicle, Prostate and Bulbourethral glands produce semen (fluid that sperm swims in) Urethra – tube that carries semen outside body

Men and the Sexual Act When a man is sexually excited, blood enters the penis and causes an erection Ejaculation is the release of semen from the penis. 200 – 600 million sperm cells are released at one time.
