2. Praeparatio corporis
In the death scene, she appears on a funerary bed in the atrium of the house (above), surrounded by lit torches, a flute player at her feet, and her children beating their chests in mourning. Below the bed are three figures who wear the pileus, a cap of freedom worn by newly liberated slaves. This reference to the matron’s  liberality and humanity is echoed both here with the figure reading her last will and testament beside her.

7. Monumentum Naevoleiae Tychis
On left are figures, some carrying baskets approaching a smaller figure scooping grain from a modius into a basket. A second small figure stands to the R with a group of six men in togas watching from the R., perhaps including Munatius Faustus. Munatius Faustus notably had two tombs built for him and his wife. The first, built before his death, was much more simple and located at Pompeii’s Nuceria Gate. However, after Faustus’ death, his wife Naevolia Tyche had a new tomb built at the Herculaneum Gate to honour the fact that he had received a bisellium (double seat at a theatre/amphitheatre) for his contributions to the community. The bisellium was detailed as a decoration on part of the tomb, while the other side had an inscription honouring Faustus himself. This second tomb is often referred to as the Tomb of Naevolia Tyche.

Naevoleia Tyche, freedwoman of Lucius Naevoleius, for herself and for Gaius Munatius Faustus, member of the Brotherhood of Augustus and suburban official, to whom on account of his distinguished services the city council, with the approval of the people, granted a seat of double width.
This monument Naevoleia Tyche built in her lifetime also for the freedmen and freedwomen of herself and of Gaius Munatius Faustus.
