1 PG 84 Pg 84 Header: I can predict DR rxns using solubility rules
Hmwk: Finish lab. Mole Projects due next class Warm-up: Handshake each partner at your table. Best & Worst moments of spring break

2 MOLE PARTY! If you would like to bring food, please sign up on the sheet All food must be sealed in a package All drinks must be sealed You may drop off food in the morning starting at 8:15am Mole projects due when you walk in the door Make sure to have your grading rubric with your mole! All problems must be completed.

3 Double Replacement

4 Double Replacement Reactions
Ag+ NO-3 Na+ Cl- Rxn involves 2 compounds switching cations with each other

5 Come up with a list of soluble compounds.
Rally Partner: Person A gives and answer Person B gives an answer continuing until time is called Come up with a list of soluble compounds. Come up with a list of insoluble compounds.

6

7 Insoluble products precipitate out.

8 Practice __AlBr3(aq) + __K2SO4(aq) __Al2(SO4)3( ) + __KBr( )

9 Practice __KI(aq) + __Pb(NO3)2(aq)  __KNO3( ) + __PbI2( )

10 DR Investigation Your team will work together to write the formulas get them checked before you move on! You will then write 5 DR Rxns that form a precipitate. BONUS- try to produce a gas on rxn 5 Once all 5 rxns are written you may go to lab. Please keep chemical trays clean (in fume hood) Wash hands when done with the lab

11 Lab Time Perform each rxn and observe the formation of your predicted product Use glass well plate for rxn surface Use only 1 drop of each reactant Don’t go rogue- you will lose lab privledges Describe the precipitate formed Clean the glass well plate thoroughly in the waste beaker Rise well plate when completely done. Leave station clean

Hmwk: Finish DR prediction problems DR Rxn & Solubility Quiz next class Warm-up: Handshake ech partner at your table. Finish off your labs! Make sure they are colored. Staple the entire group together and staple them. Turn them into the black tray

13 __AgNO3(aq) + __K2SO4(aq) __KNO3( ) + __Ag2SO4( )
__FeCl3(aq) + __Na2CO3(aq) __Fe2(CO3)3( ) + __NaCl( )   __BaCl2(aq) + __NaOH(aq) __Ba(OH)2 ( ) + __NaCl( )

14 Prediction Silver nitrate and potassium chromate

15 Prediction- Person A thinker, Person B coach
Strontium chloride and cobalt (III) sulfate

16 Prediction- Person B thinker, Person A coach
Ammonium sulfide and lead (II) nitrate

17 PG 85 Pg 85 Header: I can convert using mole ratios
Hmwk: Mole Ratio Problem Warm-up: Handshake your face partner! Predict the chemical reaction between when calcium hydroxide is mixed with sodium carbonate.

18 Coefficients of a balanced chemical reaction form the mole ratio
Mole to Mole Coefficients of a balanced chemical reaction form the mole ratio

19 Step 1: Write & Balance the Rxn __FeClO( ) + __ K2 CO3 ( )  __ KClO( ) + __ Fe2CO3 ( ) Mole Ratios: the relationship between chemical compounds given by the balanced coefficients in a rxn

20 How many mole of Fe2CO3 are produced if 2.3 moles of FeClO are reacted.
2FeClO( aq ) + K2CO3(aq )  2KClO( aq ) + Fe2CO3 (s) Step 2: Set-up problem & solve

21 A 0. 49 mol sample of AgNO3 reacts with excess NaI
A 0.49 mol sample of AgNO3 reacts with excess NaI. How many mol of NaI are needed to react?

22 5. 70 mols of potassium sulfate reacts with strontium hydroxide
5.70 mols of potassium sulfate reacts with strontium hydroxide. How many mols of precipitate are produced

23 How many moles of CaCl2 will be produced if you start out with 5
How many moles of CaCl2 will be produced if you start out with 5.0 moles of HCl reacting with calcium hydroxide?

24 Brain Break: Blind Draw it
You need a piece of scratch paper. Each person needs a different color pencil

25 Quiz Time. Everyone needs a staar chart
Follow the instructions directly on the quiz! When done keep it. Doodle on the back.

26

27 How many grams of solid product are produced from the reaction of copper (II) sulfate and sodium hydroxide?

28 If 43.5 grams of zinc chloride are reacted with silver nitrate, how many moles of aqueous product are produced?

29 You and your partner write your own problem Must have a mole:mole conversion!

30 Voting for the mole Take a minute to vote for your favorite mole! Only vote once. It should be the BEST mole of the year!

31 Solubility QQT Inside outside circle Quiz on solubility and DR rxns next class!
