32 Findings of Monitoring Institute
Districts covered: Kargil, Srinagar, Leh Buffer stock of one-month’s requirement is not maintained in schools of Srinagar district. Food grains are not delivered at school level in all 3 districts. Cooking cost is not received regularly and extent of delay varies from 3 to 4 months. Schools are managing out of school grants.

33 Children are bringing plates from their homes.
Contd.. Areas of Concern Only one cook is appointed in all the schools in Kargil district & 90% schools in Srinagar districts irrespective of the enrollment in schools Cook cum helpers are not being paid regularly. Children are bringing plates from their homes. No inspections are carried out by the block, district level officials. Roster is not maintained for community members for supervision of the MDM.

34 MI findings : Jammu Division Districts covered : Reasi, Samba
Due to non availability of foodgrains MDM is not served in 15 schools in Reasi district during the period Food grains are not received in 31 schools and buffer stock is not maintained in all schools in Samba district. Cooking cost is not reaching in time and there is delay of 2-3 months. Health card are not maintained in any of the schools. Micronutrients are not provided to the children. Community participation is very low.

35 ISSUES Low coverage of children against enrolment.
No coverage under SHP in Kashmir Division. Inspections are carried out only 38% of schools instead of mandatory of 75% by end of 3 quarters. SSMC meeting was conducted in June 2010, after that no SSMC held in the State.
