4 Essay Grading Add 61-61B Essay Grading to your writing tab (orange)

5 Essay Grading pages On 61-61B Leave room for grading A-G.
Each letter should have the following: My guess – Why - Real Score –

6 Essay Grading Look at each essay in your packet and write down under “My guess” if you think they are a 1, 2, 3, or 4 Beneath your guess, write why you think that. When finished, go to the next slide Copy the “real scores” and the reasons why into your notes.

7 Essay Grading Answers A – B – C – D – Real Score – 1
Why – It jumps between many examples without explaining any of them clearly. B – Real score – 3 Why – Has a strong thesis. Starts with a general example, but becomes specific C – Real Score – 2 Why – No specific example  D – Why – Never answers the prompt. Talks about failure and strength, but not how they are related

8 Essay Grading Answers E – F – G – Real Score – 2
Why – Body paragraph jumps from Nelson Mandela, to failing a test, to not making the team, but doesn’t focus enough on any one example. F – Real Score – 4 Why – Uses metaphors and deeply analyzes how failure can strengthen a person G – Real Score – 3 Why – Explains to examples well, but does not show a deeper understanding
