1 BEST IDEA CONTEST Summit Stoneworks Bright Idea: Real Time Work Flow
Priority List Peer to peer group

2 Problems to solve: We needed to maximize our schedule and our installers days in our busy season while keeping up with maxed out shop production Last minute changes or repairs were being missed by the shop (shop issue) Wrong material was being cut for jobs that had allocated material (staging/saw issue) Veinmatch and special layouts were not being used when they needed to be (staging/saw issues) Nested jobs were being cut two times so we needed a way to eliminate rework (eng. issue) Customer demands needed faster turn times and we needed a way to be able to react and perform on 2-3 day window from template to install We needed to be able to react to last minute reschedules

3 The solution was: The Priority List Access Database

4 Step 1: Schedule Jobs in Moraware
Step 2: Create a Moraware Report that pulls ‘Confirmed Install’ jobs Step 4: Update Access Database from Excel and manually update repairs. Solves Prob2 Step 3: Extract the Data to Excel

5 Set the job priority - by location, installer or job type
Set the job priority - by location, installer or job type. This allows you to maximize your daily output by maximizing the installers day – to match the max that the shop can produce. Solves Problem 1.

6 Once the priority is set – it allows you to cut jobs in the right order(Engineering/robot), cut the right material (staging), cut with the right layout (VM/Engineering), sets the CNC job priority (CNC), and the Hand Detail priority (Hand detail). Solves Problems 1, 2, 3 and 4

7 The next level was to use the list to nest jobs – and keep track of nested jobs so that they are not accidentally cut twice. Solves Problem 5

8 The beautiful thing is that you can see job status real time all the way through the shop – from the robot to the CNC to Hand Detail and when they update their tablets you can see when the jobs are completed from their departments. This helps for last minute schedule changes for your installers (if a job is behind). Helps with Problem 1 and 2

9 How has Real Time Work Flow helped us?
Installers that are farther away can be scheduled first on the list (max) Retail jobs can take a higher priority to meet specific arrival times (cust.) Scheduled arrival times can stagger and allow us to have installers come back for more work which maxes out our production = max output per day (max) Inventory team updates when material is staged so Robot operator knows if job material is not ready for them to cut. Inventory team also knows exactly what material is allocated if it is special material so jobs are cut right the first time (min mistakes) Jobs that need veinmatch - it is dictated on the list so it can not be missed by the robot operator – this reduces mistakes and rework (min mistakes) It is a central location for all work flow. The whole shop knows exactly what job to work on next and can stay on task so that we get the jobs done on time, in the right order for the installers as they arrive – so they are staged in the right order for pick up too (max) It allows very quick changes to occur in our scheduling – we can refresh the database, update the shop tickets, and not skip a beat. Keeps customers happy! (max/cust.)

10 What you need to implement?
An IT employee with a Working knowledge of Moraware, Excel, and Access Database Tablets / WiFi / Computers set up with the database capability and or database applications A team in the shop that keeps the database info up to date Consistent daily updates to the database Hope it helps you like it helps us! ENJOY!
