What conditions led to the rise of dictators? Past week leaders, poor economies, promise of greatness Germany – Treaty of Versailles and later Great Depression Left Germany in ruins, hyper inflation, as a people defeated. Hitler promises the return to the Gods of the Aryans Soviet Union – People massively poor!!!behind the western powers in industrialization and modernization. Promise of well being and equality for all. A world dominated by communism Italy- Economically poor. Promises the Roman Empire Mussolini Japan. Need for resources attacks China , Manchuria. Violent massive crimes.

All share a dictatorial state with no individual Rights Totalitarianism Fascism Communism

NO free Speech or choices (Marx's 10 Planks) Information is state sponsored propaganda Shut down all opposing views violently End Greek Orthodox Russian Religion How is C different from Fascism? C allows no private property and goal is a classless society.

Commonality of Totalitarian Regimes
Massive Mass Rallies – Purpose to reinforce the individual serves the greater body of government Military Parades to show the strength of the government to its people and a warning for enemies. The extensive use of limiting information and disseminating propaganda.

Propaganda – systematic dissemination of one-sided information for the purpose of changing minds and behavior( Take Action) Appeals to emotion not reason Many methods used to achieve this.
