SHRP2 Product Implementation
Organizing for Reliability (L01/L06/L34/L31) Fosters more reliable travel times by helping agencies advance business processes & organizational capabilities for TSMO. Nearly 50 state and local agencies have now implemented the TSMO organizational capability assessment tool (L06). Workshop to advance the business practices from L01 will guide agencies in using the web-based version of the guide, E-Tool for Integrating Business Processes for Systems Operations (L34). FHWA developed 6 Business Frameworks based on Capability Maturity Model: Traffic management, Planned special events, Road weather management, Traffic incident management, Traffic signal system management, and Work zone management.

National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training Program (L12, L32A/L32B/L32C) Goal is to train all 1 million emergency responders. By the end of 2016, this initiative had reached a total of more than 210,000 responders. Launched the third and final product under the SHRP2 L12/L32 suite of products, the National TIM Responder Training Program Post-Course Assessment Tool (L32C), providing federal, state & local TIM agencies the ability to assess student learning & evaluate the impacts training has had on operations, as well as assess the return on investment in TIM training.

Reliability Data and Analysis Tools (L02/L05/L07/L08/C11) Designed to help transportation agencies reduce the impacts of unanticipated delays on travelers and to provide motorists with more consistent trip times. Helps agencies identify cost-effective strategies for combating specific traffic challenges that contribute to unexpected delay and make travel unreliable. Seven pilots underway with more to launch Incorporating Travel Time Reliability into the Highway Capacity Manual (L08) resulting in new content for the Highway Capacity Manual Guide to Establish Monitoring Programs for Travel Time Reliability (L02) Incorporating Travel Time Reliability into the Highway Capacity Manual (L08)

Freight Demand Modeling and Data Improvement (C20) Guidance that will lead to improved freight data sets and freight modeling practices by planners. Strategic plan to guide state, regional, and local planners better predict trends in freight movement and make more informed project investment decisions. In use in 11 states 2 workshops 47 workshop participants 2 peer exchanges

Improving Business Processes for More Effective Transportation Systems Management and Operations Fact Sheet: Capability Maturity Frameworks for Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Program Areas Planning for Transportation Systems Management and Operations Within Corridors: A Desk Reference TRB Annual Meeting Event 234: Advancing Transportation Systems Management and Operations Through Program Planning: Current Practices and Future Directions 234: The panel session examines the relevance and benefits of program planning to advance a supportive and sustainable mission for effective transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) programs at state and regional transportation agencies. The session presents an overview of recent guidance and brief summaries of current practices and strategies for program planning that are being used by state and regional agencies. A panel and audience discussion will follow to focus on how to develop TSMO program planning.
