Long Term Forecasts Long Term Forecasts
Best estimate of future requirements For information only – a supplier is not expected to respond in SCP A ‘collaboration’ is the item that is being forecasted – the following dimensions are used to define and differentiate each collaboration in SCP: Order Number Plant Project Forecast Line When a long term forecast is sent to SCP and these four dimensions exactly match a collaboration already posted in SCP, then the system assumes the new collaboration is an update to the existing collaboration. If all four dimensions do not exactly match, then a new collaboration is established in SCP for the ‘incoming’ long term forecast. Introduction to Supply Planning Supply Planning in SCP consists of two elements. These are Forecasts and Long Term Forecasts. Forecasts are firm forward-looking requirements for goods in specified quantities and dates. They are published and updated by Rolls-Royce on a regular basis. Suppliers are expected to respond to these forecasts to indicate their ability to fulfill them. Typically, forecasts will look over the immediate coming weeks, but can extend into months if demand is firm enough. Long Term Forecasts are a best estimate of Rolls-Royce’s future supply requirements. As they are typically far into the future, and will almost certainly change, they are for information purposes only, to help suppliers shape their future production requirements, and there is no ability to respond to them. Forecasts – Search Results
A list of available forecasts will appear as a result of your search. To keep things simple for training, we have only shown one on our list. However, it is likely that you will see more than one when working in SCP for real. Check the box of the forecasts you wish to work on, and click the View button. This will take us to the Multi-Collab View. Before we go there, Collaboration, or collab for short, is a piece of SCP terminology and is the series of connections that define what is contained in a forecast – in this case a combination of the buyer, Rolls-Royce Marine, the supplier, the item that is being forecasted, and the buyer account, another piece of SCP terminology that usually equates to a particular buyer’s site. Forecast – Multi Collab View
The forecast is presented in a calendar view where each row is a ‘Request Qty’ or ‘Previous Request Qty’ and each column is a time period. The default calendar view is from today’s date and going out four years as monthly buckets of data. A user can change the start/end date or time buckets in the header section, then click ‘Refresh’. The underlying data from the buyer is not impacted. Forecast – Multi Collab View This is the Multi-Collab View and it is quite a busy screen, so I have hidden the Navigation Tree by using the arrow button in the top left corner of the screen. We will go through the key points on this screen step by step. The highlighted area covers the period of time that the forecast covers. The start and end date of the forecast are shown and can be altered either by typing in the date range you require, or by using the calendar icons. If you do change the dates, you need to press the refresh button to change what displays below. The calendar has a default setting but you can change it if required. The other options are weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly. Again, you will need to use the refresh button if you make a change. Finally, the legend on the right shows a different colour depending on whether the information displayed is a daily, weekly or monthly value. SCP-BAES: Copyright 2012 Exostar LLC. Forecast – Multi-Collab View
If you scroll all the way to the right on the calendar view, you will see a total for each row. This is based on the start and end dates that are being used for the current view. Forecast – Multi-Collab View 3 In this view we have scrolled to the right of the page to show the totals for the entire forecast and you will also notice the last two columns are shaded in orange, which indicates that the forecast values in those orange columns are weekly values, as per the legend we mentioned earlier.
