16 Due to our grade having such an early lunch, we have snack every afternoon. Students can bring a snack that can be eaten without utensils and does not spill, (i.e. crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc.). It is preferred that they do not bring a drink with their snack, but if they need it, water only (due to potential bug issues). We will take a bathroom break after and they can get water. If a student does not bring a snack, one will not be provided. Birthday Treats: We love celebrating birthdays. Due to our lunch is early in the day we prefer to do cupcakes and treats during snack. Our snack time is around 1:15 everyday. If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s teacher. SNACK/BIRTHDAYS

17 COATS and JACKETS Please remember to place your child’s name inside of their coat/jacket. Sometimes they get left at the restroom or on the playground and this will help with identifying who the item belongs to.

18 Transportation Changes
*Any time there is a transportation change, parent must send a HANDWRITTEN note with student’s name, the date, and what the change is. This note must come from the student’s guardian. *If we do not have a note, the student will go home their usual way. *Please refrain from bringing pets to dismissal. We have students who are not comfortable around animals, which can cause problems with dismissal.

19 Absences *When a student is absent, parent can send in a HANDWRITTEN excuse note/doctors note with reason for absence. (from guardian) *Parents can an excuse note directly to our Attendance Secretary as well --- *Student will make-up work when they return. *If you know there will be an extended absence and you want to pick up the work to do while out, the teacher must have 24 hour notice to prepare assignments.

20 Cafeteria Information
The Ellendale Bears are ready for a great year! During the first few days of school, teachers will practice procedures, review expectations, and prepare students for a year of EXCELLENCE! We’re happy to welcome parents who want to eat lunch with their child. Please allow us the time we need to teach, demonstrate, and practice appropriate behavior. We ask that parents wait until August 28th to begin eating lunch with their child. During this time we can ensure homeroom assignments are permanent and practice cafeteria routines. Our great cafeteria staff is ready to prepare a lunch for all of our Bears and their parents. Thank you for your support!

21 STEM Lessons We will plan one lesson each week with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. The STEM lessons will be integrated into our existing lessons and curriculum. An example would be to integrate a science experiment into a Math lesson. Each grade level will post a brief description for the STEM lesson each Friday for the following week.

22 Ellendale Night at BHS Football Game
September 6:30 Every student will have a coupon with the school’s name on it so they can get in for $1. That same coupon gets 2 adults in for $5 each as well! Everyone will enter the gate by the gym. We will have signs up to direct you. Please be sure you use the gate by the gym so ticket sellers at the main gate will not have to explain to the general public why they cannot get in the game for $5. Ellendale Bears will be on the field as the BHS Panthers run out! We encourage all of our BEARS to bring posters, banners, poms, etc.

23 We are looking forward to a great year with you all!
