Ongoing Special Summary revision w.r.t 1-1-2019 as qualifying date
Special Summary Revision :- Draft roll has been published at the polling stations across the state on 1st September, for receiving Claims and Objections. Any one who attained the 18 years of age as on is eligible to become the new voter. Appeal to all of you if you have turned 18 as on you can register yourself as voter. Three more days left to get registered if you are 18 & above and not enrolled yet Help your family members, friends, relatives, neighbours and familiar people in getting enrolled as voter if not registered so far. Please visit an online portal for registration/addition, deletion, modification, transposition (within) The ingoing SSR is culminating on 23rd December, 2018 as far as receipt of Claims and Objections is concerned . The final publication Electoral Roll is 23rd January, 2019 and after that the Continuous updation of electoral will begin .More opportunities to get enrolled if leftout by any reason.

Launch of ELCs in 06 Districts
What are ELCs :- An Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage school students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitise them on their electoral rights and familiarise them with the electoral process of registration and voting. At ELCs, learning meets fun. Activities and Games are designed to stimulate and motivate students provoking them to think and ask questions. Through ELC, Election Commission of India, aims at strengthening the culture of electoral participation among young and future voters. Who shall be the members of ELCs :- ELCs have to be formed in Schools (HSS/HS only) Students from Class IX – XII; year old. Launch of ELCs in 6 districts (Jammu, Samba, Katha, Resay, Udhampur, Rajouri & Poonch) today 3000 to 3500 hundred students are attending today and will participate in ELCs .

Electoral literacy Clubs
What shall we do in ELCs In the ELCs, members will be part of interesting and thought-provoking, mostly classroom based activities and games. There are around 25 such activities and 6 games which have been carefully designed to impart specific learning which will help them to become an ‘Empowered (Prospective) Voter’. How can a School/College enrol for the ELC? The School/College can approach the following: Deputy Commissioner /District Election Officer (DEO) Electoral Registration Officer(ERO) ELC Resources The activities and games developed under the ELC project have been given to districts including all resource material to these six districts.

Main Objectives Principle of Inclusion to be integral to ELCs
Educate target population about voter registration, electoral process and related matters by engaging them in hands on experience EVM and VVPAT familiarization and education about robustness and integrity of the electoral process using EVMs To harness the potential of ELC members for carrying out electoral literacy in communities ELCs will facilitate voter registration for its members as they become 18 Principle of Inclusion to be integral to ELCs

Expected outcomes Target audience aware of what, how, when and where of electoral process i.e. registration and voting in election. Target audience understand the value of their vote and the sanctity of ‘secrecy of vote’. Target audience aware of the working and robustness and non-tamperability of the EVM and the function of VVPAT. Increase in registration among the target audience and specifically higher EP ratio in the year age cohort. Overall increase in voter turnout in elections.

ELC in Schools (9th to 12th) (Future Voters)
ELCs will be set up in each school and have students of Class IX-XII as members. One or two teachers will act as the Nodal Officers and Mentors for the ELC and shall have the following role: Coordinating with DEO’s office for receipt of ELC resources. Facilitating training of Teachers on specific Resources/Tools. Facilitate the enrollment for the students of Class XII when they become eligible Class Teacher or identified Teacher shall conduct the activities of the ELC.

State Committee on Electoral Literacy (SCEL)
Under the Chairmanship of CEO J&K a team constituted as SCEL as per Commission’s directions to supervise the state. It will supervise the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme. Similarly District Committee on Electoral Literacy (DCEL) to be set up under DEO as Chairman by all districts to monitor and ensure the conduct of activities in schools.

9th National Voters Day 9 th National Voters Day is being celebrated across the country including in the state of Jammu & Kashmir on 25th January 2019 Why it is celebrated on 25th ? 25th January is also the foundation day of the Commission, which came into being on this day in 1950. ELC Future Voters in schools shall celebrate NVD as given in the Resource Books in all schools Proud to be a Voter - Ready to Vote Before NVD all schools will organise activities like quiz, competitions on painting , rallies, debates, symposiums etc.

PollStar Helpline If the call is missed or an invalid entry is made, POs may dial the same number from which they received the call within 30 minutes. They can then listen to the question again and provide a response. DSNL also provides an optional generic PollStar Helpline number. Support is offered by a team of specialists.
