Coniferous trees: fir, spruce and pine.

Due to the canopy cover the floor of the forest is dark and contains few nutrients.
Animals: many tree dwelling organisms such as monkeys, snakes, many bird species, and carnivores.

A savanna is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be found between a tropical rainforest and desert biome.

Store water, bloom at night, large roots
Animals: active at night, burrow, big ears, sweating, panting, water proof skin to adapt to heat

Freshwater lakes, ponds, river, streams cover only a small fraction.

Limited by salinity, water pressure, light, and temperature.
The ocean is divided into major zones.

A habitat in which the fresh water of a river meets the salt water of the ocean.
Example: Chesapeake Bay
