1 Chapter 3 Section 1 Pressure

2 Pressure is the force exerted on a surface.
Your feet exert force on the ground in the form of pressure.

3 Pressure and Area Pressure decreases as the amount of area increases.
Snow shoes help increase the area Water skis also increase the area.

4 Fluid Pressure Particles in a fluid exert a force on the container they are in. These particles hitting the container create pressure.

5 Air Pressure Air has mass Gravity acts on all masses Therefore air has weight This is called air pressure

6 Pressure Changes As your elevation increases the amount of air above you decreases. So air pressure decreases. As your go deeper underwater, water pressure increases.
