Reminder: Habides What is it? Objectives:
A definition of required fields + a reporting format (XML Schema) An improved dataflow: 1) Online Reporting Reportnet CDR 2) A Portable Tool for decentralised derogation reporters Objectives: Streamline reporting of Derogations Too many different formats: Excel, Word, .TXT, Paper, etc. One format for all MS: Possible linking with other datasets Easier data management Easier analysis

2009 Derogation Reporting Tools made available in September 2009 Reporting deadline extended to 31/12/2009 10 Member States have used Habides and delivered data through Reportnet: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Hungary, Romania, Luxembourg, Sweden, Latvia, Czech Republic, Italy. Maybe more to come… A few technical issues linked to the use of Microsoft Access. (solution for 2010 on next slide) Possibility to add items to the “Permitted Activities”, “Permitted Methods” and “Reasons for Granting Licence” fields if not complete.

2010: What’s new? New Portable Tool rewritten in Java replace old MS Access. Advantages: Platform independent, “portable” (works on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux) Open Source compared to Microsoft Access: Free, less bugs, more stable New features (e.g. Import, multi-species, etc.) Not affected by internal IT/security policy Easy translation of lists of Methods, Activities and Reasons XML technology no database backend Availability for testing: Beginning April 2010
