Don’t smell directly from a container - WAFT. Don’t heat closed containers. Keep your lab area neat and clean. Don’t place lab materials near the edge of the table. Keep papers and other flammable objects away from flames. Unplug equipment when not in use. Don’t leave materials laying on the floor. Clean up spills immediately Image:

5 Lab Safety Video:

6 Quiz or test rules: No talking until the last person is done with their quiz. Every word I hear from you = 5 minute of detention What can you do? Work on lab safety poster. Work on HW from other classes. Put your head down and sleep. Cell phones should all be put away. Music is provided by me.

7 Essay - introduction Get into your pairs and exchange essays.
Read the introduction to each other. Was it interesting or catchy? Did it provide a preview of what you are going to be talking about? When you are done, give suggestions on how to make the introduction interesting or better.

8 Essay - body M – Main Idea? E – Evidence of your main idea?
As a pair, go over the body of your paper. Read your body again…is there a M – Main Idea? E – Evidence of your main idea? A – Analysis (what do you think?) T – Transition to the next paragraph

9 Essay - conclusion In your pairs… Read the conclusion to each other.
Was there a summary? When you are done, give suggestions on how to make the conclusion interesting or better.
