Figure 1 Early and late phases of long-term potentiation (LTP). A train of repetitive stimuli (arrows) induces an increase in synaptic strength known as LTP. A single train of stimuli induces E-LTP (red), which decays over the course of a few hours. Multiple trains also induce L-LTP (blue), which remains stable for many hours.
