Soliloquy Dialogue spoken by an actor when the character believes himself to be alone. The techinique frequently reveals a character’s innermost thoughts, including feelings, state of mind, motives or intentions. The soliloquy often provides necessary but otherwise inaccessible information to the audience.

Aside An actor’s speech, directed to the audience, that is not heard by other actors on stage. An aside is usually used to the let the audience know what a character is about to do or what he or she is thinking. It’s also used to keep the audience engaged with the play’s action.
