Light and The Ray Model
2
Types of light Sources: Luminous
Incandescent- a type of light produced when an object heats up. Bioluminescent- a type of light produced by a biological source. a type of light produced by the interaction of chemicals. Chemiluminescent-
3
Nonluminous Non-Luminous - Objects that can be seen only after light has been reflected from them
4
Types of Media Matter can be classified into 3 categories depending on how it behaves when light strikes it. a) Transparent - transmitted light can pass through. (Ex: A clean window) b) Translucent - scatters transmitted light, so you cannot see a clear image. (Ex: Frosted Glass) c) Opaque - cannot transmit light at all. (Ex: A Brick Wall)

Properties of light (review)
1. Travels in waves - Transverse Waves 2. Rectilinear Propagation of Light i. Light travels in straight lines. 3. Has a constant speed in any given medium
6
Terms Ray- A single path of light. Beam- A bundle of rays.

Complete the worksheet to analyze how light behaves as it come in contact wit ha plane mirror

Laws of Reflection in plane mirrors
The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. The incident ray, the reflected ray and the normal all lie on the same plane.
