Effects of electric field on mast cells Dan Zhu, Zu-Hui Wu, Ji-Yao Chen and Lu-Wei Zhou Soft-matter Laboratory, State Key Laboratory of Surface Physics, and Department of Physics Fudan Univiversity, Shanghai, China Mast cell is a kind of immune cells which is sensitive to physical stimuli such as electric field, however the mechanism of mast cells response to electric field is still not fully understood. This study aims to explore the mechanism of calcium release and activation of TRPV channels stimulated by electric field. A stable AC electric field was applied to mast cells, the cytosol calcium ([Ca2+]c) was measured as well as the corresponding electric field. Calcium oscillation appeared in mast cell when stimulated by AC electric field, the mechanism is to be studied. I. BACKGROUND II.
