2 Where do emotions come from?
States of feeling. Emotions are biological. Anxiety causes a biological response in the nervous system. Emotions are cultural. Burping can cause disgust in one culture and happiness in others. Anger happens when a person feels attacked. Emotions are instinctive. We are born with certain emotions. Studies have shown that babies express emotion.

3 Theories of Emotion James-Lange Theory: Cannon-Bard Theory:
Emotions follow behavior. Behavior → Instinctive response pattern Cannon-Bard Theory: Emotions occur with the bodily responses that are aroused by an external stimuli. “narrow escape” When does an emotional reaction occur? Theory of Cognitive Appraisal: People respond with certain emotions based on their cognitive appraisal of a situation. The body can react the same but different emotions can be felt each time.
