September 14, 2018 Bellevue College Room T118

2 Welcome to the Fall CHS Kickoff!
Thank you for coming! Please sign in and help yourself to lunch Meeting agenda is located in your packet Logistics Thank You! CHS is a partnership – it wouldn’t be possible without you! New standards meant to ensure quality, not interfere with your school, district or OSPI requirements!

3 CHS Overview New State Program Requirements as of 2016
Developed from National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) organization Annual Report to State Address17 Standards Plus Required Evidence In welcoming you to our New Teacher Orientation and training for College in the High School, I want to say “congratulations” on being approved to teach a college course through Bellevue College! We are happy to have you as part of our team And it is most certainly a team. This is a collaborative effort. We could not offer this program without you! I am a firm believer in this program and I hope you will become one too. For me, one of the best aspects College in the High School is, unlike any other dual credit program, it promotes and actually requires the collaboration of high school and college faculty working together on curriculum and pedagogy. In fact, I was overjoyed when I recently ran across a research report entitled: Gaps Between Secondary Schools and Higher Education as Perceived by South Texas Secondary English Teachers. According to the abstract, “Findings from the study confirmed previous studies in which researchers have advocated for more collaboration and curriculum alignment between the two levels of institutions.”
