2 Morphology Important Features:
Lophophore- Circular structure with tentacles in the mantle cavity used for filter feeding (bryozoans have these as well-they are another lophophorate) Pedicle- Muscular stalk that attaches the brachiopod to something else

3 Chemosynthetic Environments
Hot Springs (like Yellowstone) They like hot, deep waters with mid-ocean ridges - A.K.A. places with high geothermal gradients Cold seeps of petroleum and gas- this creates a community of invertebrates like brachiopods, clams, tube worms, and crustaceans

4 Classification Phylum Brachiopoda (Cambrian-Recent)
Class Inarticulata (Cambrian-Recent) Order Lingulida (Cambrian-Recent) Order Acrotretida (Cambrian-Recent) Class Articulata (Cambrian-Recent) Order Orthida (Cambrian-Permian) Order Strophomenida (Ordovician-Jurassic) Order Pentamerida (Cambrian-Devonian) Order Rhynchonellida (Ordovician-Recent) Order Spiriferida (Ordovician-Jurassic) Order Terebratulida (Devonian-Recent
