These animals also give us two kinds of foods. Notice the difference in the shapes!

7 The black and white cow is a MILK cow
The black and white cow is a MILK cow. She gives us MILK, drank “as is,” and used for…

8 The tan-colored animal is a BEEF steer. He provides meat called BEEF.`

9 How about this animal? What is it, and when might we eat the meat from it?

10 Some food animals come from lakes, streams, the sea, or the ocean:

11 What are some other animals that provide food for humans—milk or meat or both?

12 Do animals provide other things that humans use?
Sheep provide WOOL for all kinds of clothing. Angora goats provide mohair for warm clothing. Cashmere goats provide fine, soft wool called cashmere to make expensive sweaters! Skin from hogs has been used to replace damaged human skin in treating hard-to heal wounds. Insulin from swine (pigs) and cattle pancreases was once used to replace human insulin in people who suffered from diabetes. (Today, a bio-engineered “human” insulin is used.) Surgeons use pig heart valves to replace damaged human heart valves. Because of its consistency, pig hair is favored for paintbrushes. Cow hides are used to make footballs (and many other leather products). Goat milk is used to make skin conditioners, moisturizers, soap and more! Gelatin is usually made from beef or pig collagen. Gelatin is used in making capsule shells and is used as a stabilizer added to vaccines, for example. Heparin is an injectable anticoagulant prepared from pig by-products.
