OBJECTIVE: Look at how important your attitude is and how that influences your behavior.

2. Activity #1: Attitudes and Altitudes
PART ONE:
On the whiteboard we will have 2 columns:
Good Attitude
Bad Attitude
What are qualities of both?
For Example: Being HAPPY is a part of having a good attitude.
Lets try to list 5 examples in each column!

3. Activity #1 continued PART TWO:
What does it feel like when we have a good attitude compared to when we have a bad attitude?
The paper will represent the good attitude words.
The marbles will represent the bad attitude words.
Which balloon do you think will go up higher and stay in the air longer? Why?

4. Activity #1 Closure Questions
Is this how it feels when you have either a good attitude or a bad attitude? Discuss at your table.
How does a bad attitude weigh you down? Discuss at your tables
How does a good attitude lift you up? Discuss at your tables
What happens to us if we are around people who have bad attitudes?- think to yourself- share your ideas with elbow partner.
What happens when we are around people with good attitudes? Think to yourself- share your ideas with elbow partner
Let’s read a story about what a difference an attitude can make.

5. Activity #2: Balloon Man
“Your attitude determines your altitude”
Read along silently while I read the story aloud.
After listening to the story, what do you think the quote above means?
What would an altitude look like in your life?
How does your attitude determine your altitude?
Did the little kid seem bothered that he didn’t have a good arm?
Could someone who didn’t have a good arm react differently? How?
What did the little boy have inside of him that gave him such a good attitude?

6. Activity #3: What’s Inside You
Flip your paper over to the side that says “Your attitude determines your altitude.”
Look at the drawing below the quote.
Write your name in the space provided at the bottom.
Write on each line one good thing that is inside of them that helps them to have a good attitude.
Who would like to share?
Remember, there are a lot of different kinds of attitudes to catch, make sure you catch a good one!
