Pr Dunkelberg developed a study where agar plates are placed inside the containers, after sterilisaton the sterilised containers are exposed to a microbial aerosol and periodic atmospheric pressure reductions in a exposure chamber. After exposure and incubation, colony growth was registered with following outcome:
2 out of 11 containers with a paper filter did not show any growth
14 out of 15 containers with a permanent filter did not show any growth
9 out of 79 container with a textile filter did not show any growth
