Deforestation: The result of cutting down trees to use for money & free up land for farming. **Problem: Cutting down trees is eroding (wearing away) the land & leaving it useless for farming. **Problem: Getting rid of rainforest areas & disrupting wildlife.

Water Pollution, etc… Farmers depend on chemical fertilizers to grow crops These chemicals end up polluting Africa’s rivers People tend to live near waters & lakes in Africa because so much of it is dry

Desertification Africa suffers from drought (no rainfall)
Drought leads to the problem of FAMINE (shortage of food) & DESERTIFICATION (spread of desert-like conditions) and makes farming impossible The Sahel is slowly turning into the desert The Savanna is slowly turning into the Sahel Before long….most of Africa could be a desert!
