Let’s Organize Information into a Foldable!
Energy Foldable Let’s Organize Information into a Foldable! Making a Foldable
2
2. What Forms of Energy Are There?
POTENTIAL KINETIC Elastic Energy Chemical Energy Nuclear Energy Gravitational Energy Radiant Energy Electrical Energy Mechanical Sound Energy Thermal Energy
3
How will we ever remember these?!
Just remember the sentence: Everyday Cam Newton gets really excited making stinky tacos.
4
Why would anyone get excited about stinky tacos? Ew.
Everyday = Elastic Cam= Chemical Newton= Nuclear Gets= Gravitational Really= Radiant Excited= Electrical Making= Mechanical Stinky= Sound Tacos= Thermal PE KE Why would anyone get excited about stinky tacos? Ew.
5
FORMS OF POTENTIAL ENERGY
The following are all stored energy
6
1. Everyday = Elastic (or stored mechanical)
Energy stored in an object by the application of force or tension. Must push or pull on an object. Examples: a bow, a stretched rubber band, sling shot, a blown up balloon, a wind up watch
7
2. Cam=Chemical Energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules.
Example: Matches, Digestion, batteries
8
3. Newton= Nuclear Energy stored in the nucleus of an atom. The energy that holds the nucleus together. Example: Breaking down Uranium
9
4. Gets= Gravitational Energy of place or position. Higher=more gravitational energy. Example: two plants at different heights
10
FORMS OF Kinetic ENERGY
The following is all energy in motion
11
5. Really= Radiant Example: Visible Light Electromagnetic energy that travels in waves like light.
12
6. Excited= Electrical Movement of electrons. Example: lamp, computer
13
7. Making= Mechanical The movement of a substance from one place to another. Motion. Example: Riding a bike
14
8. Stinky= Sound Movement of energy through substances in waves.
Example: bell, talking, music
15
9. Tacos= Thermal The vibration or movement of atoms and molecules. Heat. Example: stove boiling water
