Key term help:
Social deprivation The degree to which an individual or an area is deprived of services, decent housing, adequate income and local employment.
Social opportunities Chances for people to improve their quality of life, for instance access to education and health care.
Squatter settlement An area of poor- quality housing, lacking in amenities such as water supply, sewerage and electricity, which often develops spontaneously and illegally in a city in an LIC.
Dereliction Abandoned buildings and wasteland.

11. Storm
If you chose to live in Kivulu/Bwaise/Nakulabye your area did not have appropriate drainage channels and your house is flooded. You can no longer live there.

12. Recession
The economy of Uganda has taken a hit and if you chose to work selling beer/potatoes or cleaning cars people no longer have money for these. You lose your job.

13. Energy
Because of global issues the price of electricity and gas have gone up. If you have chosen these take away a further 10 money credits.

14. A serious outbreak of Ebola in Kampala
If you have chosen to live in Kivulu/Bwaise/Nakulabye and only have basic healthcare you must deduct a further 30 money credits.

Look at the job cards you have chosen. Which category do each of the jobs fit into?
Formal Employment: All jobs with normal hours and regular wages, which are recognized as income sources on which taxes must be paid. People with these type of jobs are provided with benefits such as sick pay and pensions.
Informal Employment
Jobs that are neither taxed, nor monitored by any employer.
The worker is not guaranteed any income and doesn’t get sick pay or pension benefits.
