Notebook Entry: Scientists often use tools when making observations. What tools can you think of that a scientist would use?
Display at start of class, give about 5 minutes to answer. You may have students share out answers if you like.

For the Build a Boat Challenge one of the tools we will use quite a bit is a ruler to make sure our boat meets the constraints and to record our design. So today we are going to review the metric system and measurement.
