INTRODUCTION Jaipur Lalsot Master plan for Lalsot town prepared as part of academic curriculum by students of 6th Semester, 3rd Year, B.Plan. (Jan. – Apr. 2010) AIM: To study the processes and components of a Master Plan and based upon the understanding, to prepare a Master Plan for a case study town.

Lalsot Lalsot is a class III town and a sub-divisional head quarter
It is located at a distance of about 100 Km from Jaipur, the state capital of Rajasthan.

As of 2001 census, Lalsot had a population of 28,278.
It has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%. It also serves as a ‘mandi’ town for its surrounding region.

OBJECTIVES To understand how a Master Plan serves as a tool for spatial planning at a city level. To Understand the relationships between physical development policies and the social, economic and environmental goals of major stakeholders. To be able to answer the what, where, when & how questions pertaining to physical development.

SCOPE OF WORK Background Study and Literature Search
Preliminary study of development plans and their various aspects. Evaluation of a plan based upon an evaluative criteria Identification of data for the preparation of a master plan. Examination of existing information and data on Lalsot town and sub-region. Study of the broader context in which the town has developed.

Scope of Work Data Collection
Preparation of base maps, survey questionnaires, inventories, data checklists, etc. Conduction of surveys, both primary and secondary for the collection of necessary data. Interaction with various local level authorities/ organisations involved in plan preparation & implementation. – Stakeholder Participation

Scope of Work Data Analysis Proposals and Formulation of Master Plan
Analysis of obtained data with respect to various aspects of development. Identification of potentials and constraints for development. Proposals and Formulation of Master Plan Preparation of detailed proposals pertaining to various aspects of study. Drafting of final land use plan & document.
