Church has the full truth and means of salvation Other communities have elements of truth & salvation Does one have to be Catholic to be saved? God offers salvation to all people through the Church Is organized religion important; if so, why? Trad.), Sacraments, Holy Orders, Unity Humbly knowing that holiness & truth outside too & Church not perfect Why the Church of Christ necessary & not just Christ?--Baptism Church is the universal sacrament (Sacramentum ) of God’s Salvation (Mysterium) Obstacles to seeing Church as a sacrament Overcoming obstacles John Henry Newman—pursuit of Apostolic Tradition led him to the Catholic Church in 1845
