REQUIREMENTS v Restart from where ball crossed line (within 1 yard – up, down, or back) v Face field of play v Have part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line v Use both hands v Throw ball from behind and over the head

If the throw-in is performed illegally: v Not in proper location v Foot off the ground or totally inside the field v Not from behind the head v Not with both hands The restart is illegal And the throw goes to the other team RESTART

REFEREE TECHNIQUE v Referee or assistant referee should indicate place from which the throw- in should be taken v This doesnt mean that you have to point every time

THROW-IN REVIEW v When is a throw-in awarded? u After whole ball crosses touch line v Who is awarded the throw-in? u The opponents of player who last touched it v From where is the throw-in taken? u within 1 yard from where the ball left the field

THROW-IN REVIEW (continued) Thrower must: v Face field of play v Both feet on ground on or behind touch line v Use both hands v Deliver ball from behind and over the head

THROW-IN REVIEW (continued) v Can a goal be scored directly from throw-in? u No, it must touch another player before a legal goal can be scored v Are opponents allowed to interfere? u No, opponents must be 2 yards from the thrower – being closer or interfering even if farther away than 2 yards is cautionable
