Definition of Repentance
Thayer – to change one’s mind Arndt & Gingrich – to change one’s mind Young – to have another mind Strong – to think differently or afterwards, that is, reconsider Moulton & Milligan – a complete change of attitude, spiritual and moral, towards God

Jesus said that repentance was important and necessary (Lk. 13:3, 5) John the Baptist called for “fruits meet (worthy) for repentance” (Matt. 3:8). “bear fruit in keeping with repentance” (NASB)

Acts 26:18. Is this repentance?
“The men of Nineveh repented at the preaching of Jonah” (Matt. 12:41) What did they do? “They turned from their evil ways” (Jonah 3:10) Acts 26:18. Is this repentance? Matthew 21: Which one repented and exhibited fruit thereof?

Is regret/sorrow repentance? 2 Cor. 7:8-10:
8) For though I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it-- for I see that that letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while—9) I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. 10) For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but the sorrow of the world produces death
