What are Mission Patches?
All space missions have their own mission patch or badge and colours just like a school. Space teams and astronaut crews choose special colours and symbols which tell people about themselves and about their scientific mission. 02/12/2011 Espace Skills Course

Apollo 1 Coming up are three mission patches and some information about each mission. Apollo 1 has the Earth, the Moon, an Apollo capsule and the flag of the USA. It is very simple but symbolic because the Apollo missions tried to reach the Moon. 02/12/2011 Espace Skills Course

Mission STS-51L The Challenger Flight STS-51L has the shuttle, the Earth, and the Stars and Stripes. The apple symbolises Christa McAuliffe who was a teacher and who had won a competition out of thousands of others to be the first teacher in space. 02/12/2011 Espace Skills Course
